The purpose of this blog is two-fold: firstly, to help parents decide whether I’m the right child psychologist for your family. Psychology is a very diverse field, and there are many different views and opinions on how best to help. This can be frustrating at times, but it also provides the opportunity of finding a better fit. Many parents are also often quite anxious about seeing a psychologist for the first time – this blog hopes to give parents an understanding of what to expect from their appointments and some tips on how to make the most of the sessions.
The second reason for this blog is to help parents navigate their way through the minefield that is modern-day parenting. We are inundated with advice from all corners when it comes to child behaviour and mental health issues – some advice is great, some advice is not so great – and it’s often very hard to decide which is which (and to know who to trust!). Talking with a trusted professional with over twenty years experience, with no biases and nothing to sell, can often clear the way to working out how best to support your child.
